Adventures in God
The beginning of a ministry
In 1981 as eager and enthusiastic bible school students, my wife and I wanted to do something for the Lord so we visited the church’s street outreach and it was then that the Holy Spirit (and my wife, Dyllis) compelled me to join this ministry. A few months later I was asked to preach and I spent the whole week preparing a message on the trial and crucifixion of Christ.
When it was my turn to preach I stepped forward to begin - and was speechless! The crowd stared at me and I thought “What are they staring at?” I had a fifteen-pointer message in the back of my bible on how Jesus was marred more than any man, how He was spat on, blindfolded then slapped and punched in the face. They put a crown of thorns on His head, and then beat Him on the head with a stick. He was tied up like a criminal and He had never even committed a sin.
Peter’s first sermon preached - 70 get saved
I stared - dumbfounded - not opening my bible, and then these words came out of my innermost being “The same God who anointed Jesus of Nazareth to preach the gospel anointed Peter Rahme”. I was taken aback as it was my voice but not my words. The anointing was so strong it changed my life forever. I preached for about ten to fifteen minutes and gave a call for people to receive Christ - about seventy people gave their lives to our wonderful Lord and Savior that day. It was the beginning of fourteen years of ministering in the streets and in city-wide crusades which brought in a harvest of over 100,000 souls. All Glory to God
Matthew 9:37-38 (Amplified Bible)
“Then He said to His disciples, The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 So pray to the Lord of the harvest to force out and thrust laborers into His harvest.”
