Adventures in God

Peter's report to the financiers of the Gulf Coast relief work

Thank you for your faithful prayers and your support, they carried me through some heartbreaking tests during my time on the Gulf Coast. It was a wonderful eight days of reaching out and ministering the love of Christ to hurricane victims as well as volunteers at the center in Baton Rouge.

Some of the highlights of the week:

I made several trips from Baton Rouge into New Orleans to deliver supplies to the distribution center. This is where I was able to minister to people as they came to receive food, clothing, water and whatever daily supplies they needed. The whole nation came to the aid of these devastated people who have lost all of their earthly possessions including their homes.

I asked the Lord to send me a man who would be able to help me on my travels and He did, a guy named Phillip, also an evangelist, who was born not far from Louisville KY. We worked in the warehouse where supplies from all over the country were sent. We packed boxes, moved crates and helped and prayed for the hurricane victims who came in to pick up supplies. It is an ongoing process, day and night, and will carry on for several years to come. Please keep praying and support wherever you can because the need is great.

The Spirit of God is moving mightily on the Gulf Coast and revival is breaking out in several churches. I was personally touched by the Holy Spirit in one of the services. I have come back refueled and recharged to run for another seven years. Watch out devil – your time is short and we are enforcing your defeat daily. Hallelujah!

The Lord told me to carry a cross through St Bernard Parish in New Orleans – one of the hardest-hit areas in New Orleans. It was heartbreaking to see up close just how bad the situation really is. But all glory to our God, we were able to minister life to those we met. Many people received Jesus as their Lord and savior - among them, a Catholic lady and her husband who was a Muslim – both were gloriously saved! Also, the Meyer's, a family of five, as well as others, all received Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

I met several pastors, one in particular, whom I felt the Lord told me to pray for and help wherever I can. This pastor had a congregation of 250 people – he has managed to locate only 30 of them. The church is totally ruined and he will have to find another location for the church. There is nothing in the church that can be salvaged or used again. They are currently having Sunday services in the open air at the distribution center.

The leader of a Bethany Church ladies’ cell group asked me to share my testimony and travels with them and also to pray for them. God touched each one of them in the most precious way and they testified that they had received a new boldness and promised to bring back a good report from that night forth. All glory to God for the way He draws and knits us together in love.

The day before I left, I went into Long Beach and Gulf port in Mississippi. It is almost impossible to describe the destruction in words. What used to be houses and buildings are now just foundations and piles of rubble. For miles and miles pieces of wood and debris are strewn across the land. I saw a large cardboard box lodged in a tree thirty five to forty feet high shredded pieces of material hanging from the branches of trees. Boats were overturned and cars still in the place where the hurricane had dumped them. The surge of the ocean was 35 to 40 feet high and debris can still be seen in the trees where the force of the water washed it up.

From Long Beach to Gulf Port we saw only two churches still standing. Their steeples had been blown off and one can only imagine the damage to the inside of the churches. This was an utterly heart-wrenching experience.

I’ve attached some photos to give you an idea of what it’s like down there. I am planning to return to the Gulf Coast as finances come in and as the Lord leads. There is still a great need there and the volunteer force has shrunk considerably. Please keep us in your prayers - we can feel when the prayers are being sent up on our behalf.

Thank you all so very much for standing with us and as my wonderful friend and brother, Reinhard Bonnke says, we are “Plundering hell and populating Heaven”.

Your brother in Christ,

Serving the King,
