Who Is The Reason For The Season?

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government will be upon His should and his name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

As we celebrate the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ, we should stand in awe at the wonder of His birth and what it means to us.

Four titles describe the Messiah:

  • “Wonderful, Counselor” [one with great wisdom and leadership] is actually a single designation;
  • “Mighty God” indicates His deity;
  • “Everlasting Father” describes His unceasingly tender, loving relationship with His people;
  • “Prince of Peace” refers to a rich, harmonious life. Most glorious of all, His reign will never end.

(Nelson’s Study Bible)

There is no other person throughout history who was born of a virgin – His birth was prophesied hundreds of years before He came to the earth. His coming was announced in Luke 2:10 by an angel. It was a wonder in the heavens and the earth, heralded by the angels and preached by the shepherds (Luke 2:13-14,17).

This same Jesus is still glorified by millions of people worldwide as King of kings and Lord of lords!

Who is this man, Jesus?

He is the King of righteousness
He is the King of the ages
He is the King of glory

David said the heavens declare the glory of God and the firmaments show forth His handiwork

He is a sovereign king

He is eternally steadfast
He is immortally graceful
He is imperially powerful
He is impartially merciful
He is God’s Son
He is the sinner’s savior
He is the only one qualified to be an all-sufficient savior
He heals the sick
He delivers the captive
His yoke is easy and is burden is light
He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords!

May our wonderful Counselor, Mighty God and Everlasting Father be your Prince of Peace this Christmas and may He have free access in and through your life.

We pray God’s richest blessings for you and your family in 2008 and that you may be filled with all the fullness of God, obeying the voice of the Spirit who will lead and guide you throughout the coming year

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
