The Infallible Word Of God

I’m sure you have encountered people, just as I have, who are skeptical as to the truth and origin of the Word of God. It still surprises me whenever I hear someone say that the Bible cannot be the Word of God, or that it was written by man. They’ll try to claim there are many contradictions in it, and if there is a God He must be confused. Without being argumentative, I ask them if they can show me where the contradictions are, and they generally reply that there are so many they don’t know where to begin. I ask them to give me just one instance of a contradiction and the usual response is “I don’t like to talk religion or get into political discussions.” My final question is, “How many times have you read the Bible?” And they say “None.” End of discussion.

“As for God, His way is perfect! The word of the Lord is tested and tried; He is a shield to all those who take refuge and put their trust in Him.” Psalm 18:30 (AMP)

God’s Word is our anchor and blueprint for life. We are so blessed and privileged to have the written Word. Regardless of how big our problem is or how difficult life becomes, the Word of God according to Psalm 119:105 is, “…a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

The Word of God is productive
On April 19th 1984 at 12 midnight after an intensive night of studying the Word of God, I was packing my Bibles and concordances away (before I had all my study tools on the computer!) and I asked the Lord, “What makes Your Word so powerful?”. He said to me, “My Word is generative power.” It seemed so audible that it startled me. I kissed my wife goodnight and went into the living room to look up the word generative in my concordances and dictionaries. Well, I found the meaning of the words and also the relative scriptures pertaining to the words “generative power.”

  • Generative in the Oxford dictionary: of procreation; able to produce, productive
  • Generative in Webster’s dictionary: having the power or function of generating, originating, producing, or reproducing

So the words generative power literally mean productive power, producing or reproducing. You might ask, producing and reproducing what? Let me explain.

In the beginning God spoke and said "Let there be light;" and there was light (Genesis 1:3); His creative word was producing what He was saying. In Genesis chapter 1 when the phrase “then God says” appears ten times – God was speaking, creating and forming the universe by the word of His power. The power is in God, the life is in God, the light is in God and He is all of the aforementioned. Hallelujah!

“By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.Hebrews 11:3

The worlds were framed: this means to prepare, to perfectly join together, to complete thoroughly, and also to adjust. (Strong's Concordance)

Hebrews 1:3 says, “Who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

The above verse of scripture shows us that Christ, the second person of the divine Trinity, God the Son, was in the creation of the worlds and the cosmos. Also that He, the Son, is upholding, maintaining, guiding and propelling the universe by His mighty word of power.

The Son of God is the express image of God’s person - translated from the Greek (Strong’s Concordance) it means He is the substance and character of God. This shows His equality with the Father.

The Creative power is in God Himself, and when He speaks; His faith-filled words are generative power producing whatever He says.

To take this a step further, the Word of God tells us as believers, that life and death are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21) and those who love it will eat its fruit.

We are created in the image and likeness of God according to Genesis 1:26-28. We are His representatives on the earth, God said we must be fruitful and multiply. He has given us His word as a blueprint for our lives. We must now apply the Word of God to every circumstance in our lives as it is there to build us up and to encourage us; it is the word of life.

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

The Word of God:

  • Is alive
  • It is the word of power, or creative energy
  • It is a judge of the innermost thoughts
  • It is the agency by which God deals directly with people
  • The word of God examines, judges, and admonishes the Christian to holy living.

The Word of God is our sustenance and it is vital that we feed our spirit daily. So make every effort to set time aside each day and feast on the Word, then endeavor to be a doer of the Word. In Luke 4:4 the Bible says we should not live by bread alone, but by every word of God…because blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it! (Luke 11:8)

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
