Never Lose Heart

These three words are vital in any walk of life, but particularly for the Christian.
"Also [Jesus] told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not to turn coward (faint, lose heart, and give up)." Luke 18:1 (AMP)

As the word of God has much to say about drawing back or giving up, I feel it is appropriate to share on this subject and assure every believer that God is still in control regardless of what we are going through or what we feel. Proverbs13:12 says "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But when the desire comes, it is a tree of life."

Life is made up of challenges but we must not dwell on the position we find ourselves in at any given time or allow tests and trials to dictate our lives. We wont sail through life without being tested by the cares of this world but through them all, we must not forget that God has made a way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13), and He and His Word, never change.
"For I am the Lord - I do not change. That is why you are not already utterly destroyed [for my mercy endures forever].” Malachi 3:6 (TLB)

In our text (Luke 18:1) Jesus was talking to His disciples telling them that they ought always to pray and not lose heart or give up.

To lose heart is to:

  • be afraid
  • become discouraged
  • become weary or tired

However, the Word of God says:

  • “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind”. 2 Timothy1:7
  • “For consider Him (Jesus) who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls”. Hebrews 12:3
  • When you become weary or tired: “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you...” James 4:8

Jesus said “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls”. Matthew 11:28-30

Here are some guidelines for strengthening yourself, so that you will not become discouraged or lose heart:

  1. Pray with a fervent heart to the Father in Jesus name
  2. Read the word and meditate on what you have read
  3. Worship and praise God for all that He has done for you
  4. Pray daily for family, friends and all leaders in authority for this is scriptural
  5. Tell others of God’s goodness and love, by doing the above you will not be discouraged or lose heart

Prayer is communicating and intimacy with God
We must always pray - not only when we have a need, or find ourselves in a fix, but pray always, keeping our God continually on our minds, in our thoughts, keeping Him Lord of our hearts, then when we find ourselves in a difficult position, He will be there to help and guide us so that we will not be discouraged and lose heart but come through every trial and test we are faced with - victorious every time. Hallelujah!

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:4-7

Now is the time to prepare and brace ourselves so that when everyday tests and trials come, we will be well prepared to stand against them and not give up or give in to the pressures of life. Hallelujah!

Please don’t forget to give us feed back of what the Lord is doing in your life, and if the devotionals help you in any way. May the Lord bless you and your family as you serves Him, In Jesus name!

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
