The Gospel Of Christ Is The Power of God To Salvation
by Bro. Peter Rahme
“And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." Mark 16:15-18
The gospel of Christ is a mystery and it is God’s gift to the human race. It is also called the mystery of Christ, the dispensation of the grace of God, and the grace of God. The gospel of Christ is the good news that God, the second person of the trinity came to earth, took on the form of a man, clothed Himself with humility, died on a cross and was raised by the glory of the Father. Now whoever believes and receives this good news will have eternal life with Him. The Word of God says Jesus bore our sins in His own body on the tree, (see the devotional Christ Redeemed Us here) so that we can walk free from the curse of sin that held us in bondage all of our lives - this is the good news of the gospel of Christ.
There are several religious organizations that have said an angel has appeared to them and given them a message to preach. This is NOT the gospel of salvation. The Bible warns us about false apostles and Satan transforming himself into an angel of light “…for such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.” 2 Corinthians 11:13-15
Paul, by the Spirit of God, warns us not to believe anything contrary to the gospel of Christ. He says, “If anyone preaches any other gospel than what we (Jesus’ disciples) have preached, let him be accursed.”
“I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:6-9
Paul was saved on the road to Damascus by the Lord Jesus while on his way to deliver Christians either to the gallows or to prison (Acts 9:1-7). He is one of the greatest examples of a man bound by religion and the traditions of man, who was transformed instantly from darkness to light. The gospel is divine energy and when heard and received, has the power to transform a soul that was once estranged from God, and reconcile them back to Him.
Once we have received Christ, we in turn are commanded to "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” We must present the Gospel of Christ to the lost so that they too, will have the opportunity to receive what Christ has provided in the plan of salvation. There is no greater news that the human race has ever received than the gospel of Christ which is the free gift of eternal life. May God richly bless you as you share this good news with others.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
