The Word Of God Is Alive
by
Bro. Peter Rahme
“For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 (AMP)
Whatever God has said in His Word He will stand by. Whatever He promised He will fulfill. Only when we apply the Word can we prove that it is the infallible Word of the living God. It takes a born-again believer, washed in the blood of Jesus, to come into the presence of God – to believe and receive whatever He said and promised to us as His children. Jesus said in Mark 11:24 “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”
There is no doubt that these are trying and difficult times. Many are afraid of what they are faced with. They are going on feelings and circumstances, and are not seeking help in the Word of God - the blueprint for life. We, as believers, cannot allow our faith to be weakened by the cares of this world, the economy, or any of the dangers we are faced with. We have been born-again by the incorruptible Word of God, which lives and abides forever (1 Peter 1:23), and it is by the Word that we will overcome every trial and test. God’s Word does not return to Him void. (click here to read more on the Infallible Word Of God)
“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11
Generative Power
Now is the time to stand firm on the Word of God - unshaken and not moved by circumstances surrounding us. God’s Word is rich and powerful. On April 19th, 1984 at midnight, I asked the Lord, “What makes Your Word so powerful?” He replied, “It is generative power!” It was so audible it startled me. I immediately began to study the word “generative” in various dictionaries.
Generative means having the ability and power to produce, or being capable of production or reproduction. The Word of God is alive and energetic, hard at work reproducing what God said it would do thousands of years ago. If we will believe the Word and apply it, it will work for us every time.
- Generative in the Oxford dictionary: of procreation; able to produce, productive
- Generative in Webster’s dictionary: having the power or function of generating, originating, producing, or reproducing
Our Faith is rooted in the Word
The only way we can truly believe and know if there is a Sovereign God is by His Word! Surely the Word has been tested, tried and proven by those who believe it! Psalm 53:1 says “The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." This is the reason the Word of God says he is a fool, because that is exactly what he is - a fool. He probably has fools following him. The definition of the word fool here (Strong’s Concordance) is stupid, wicked, vile, especially impious. This person is impious about spiritual things, wicked at heart, and not showing due reverence towards God and His Word.
For two thousand years people have been trying to destroy the Bible and stamp God and Christ out of the earth. Every time Christians are persecuted, Christianity grows in leaps and bounds. Remember, we who are righteous will be persecuted by the fool and the ungodly. Our mission is to love people, guide them to the cross and to demonstrate the gospel of Christ which is the power of God to salvation. Romans 2:4 says “…The goodness of God leads you to repentance.”!
We are what we say
People often say things they don’t mean, or don’t plan to follow through with. We must stick to our word. We are what we say! Jesus said in Luke 6:45 “For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” What we feed into our heart will come out of our mouth and then we will act upon it, whether it is good or evil.
“But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." Matthew 12:36-37
Remember, our word should be our bond. My Dad instilled integrity and honesty into my family. As a young boy growing up in a family of ten children we often heard my Dad say, “I gave them my word and I stuck to my guns.” He was the most honest man I have ever come across. He taught me a very valuable life lesson: When you give someone your word, stand by it at any cost. We know God keeps His Word, it is so much easier now as believers and with the help of the Holy Spirit, to keep ours.
God’s Word is alive and active – it is settled in heaven and on earth. It has been tested and tried, it is a sure foundation. We must give attention to God’s mighty Word, incline our ear to His sayings, and keep it in the midst of our heart. God’s Word is life to all who find it. I also encourage you to find scriptures that promise what you are believing for and speak that Word over your situation. It is one of the most powerful things you can do.
“As for God, His way is perfect! The word of the Lord is tested and tried; He is a shield to all those who take refuge and put their trust in Him.” Psalm 18:30 (AMP)
The
grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with
you all. Amen.
