Freely You Have Received, Freely Give
Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness , through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 2 Peter 1:2-4
We have been given all things that pertain to life and godliness. This is life-changing news that needs to be shared with all people of every nation. We as believers have no excuse for not sharing the greatest story ever told, which is called the Good News, in essence it is the greatest news we will ever hear or share.
The apostle Peter prays God’s grace, His unmerited, undeserved favor, His graciousness and His peace which is coupled with prosperity. He prays it be multiplied, increased, and abound to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
The truth of the gospel is:
- that God would come down from His throne of glory (Hebrews1:3),
- take on the form of a man (Philippians 2:7),
share His divine truth (John14:6),
- be beaten beyond recognition (Isaiah 42:14) by those He created (John 1:3),
- shed His blood (Hebrews 9:22),
- hang on a cross, (Galatians 3:13),
- die and be buried in a borrowed tomb, (Matt 27:57-61),
- go down to the bowels of the earth, (Acts 2:27-31),
- rise on the third day victorious over hell, death and the grave, (Luke 24:47),
- sit down at the right hand of God the Father to intercede and pray for those for whom He died (Romans 8:34).
This is the Good News of the Gospel.
We cannot, and must not, hold this treasure within ourselves any longer. It must be spread to the four corners of the earth, and shared in every nation and tongue.
“However, we possess this precious treasure [the divine Light of the Gospel] in [frail, human] vessels of earth, that the grandeur and exceeding greatness of the power may be shown to be from God and not from ourselves.” 2 Corinthians 4:7 (AMP)
We are not sharing man-made tradition or religion. Jesus said in Matthew 15:3-6 and Mark 7:5-13 that the tradition of men handed down from generation to generation makes the Word of God of no effect. What we have is a relationship with our God. We have been saved and set free by His blood and have the assurance that we will be with Him forever. Praise God forevermore for His grace and mercy! He loves us so very much and has our future in the palm of His mighty hand. Hallelujah!
“And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand. 30 I and My Father are one." John 10:28-30
Let’s share this Good News with those around us and ask them if they truly know where they will spend eternity. If they are already born-again, encourage them to share with others. This glorious news should not be kept a secret but shared openly for all to hear, receive, obey and be blessed.
“…Freely you have received, freely give.” Matthew 10:8
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
